Don't we all have too much stuff?
Unless you are super organized you probably have a pile of "stuff" spread out or hiding somewhere in your house. You might even have multiple piles of "stuff" which is the situation in my house. We have piles of shoes, piles of jackets, piles of paper, and piles upon piles of toys!! This is the situation when you have children but when will it all be too much. I have parted with lots of items although they still seem to pile up. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for all the things we have. We have been very blessed.
I think the piles become part of our lives. If they are there for too long you begin to live with it and adjust to make the pile work for you. This is true with in our selves as well. If we have issues we have not dealt with they become the piles of "stuff" we live with. We begin to adjust and never really deal with the issue. Whether it be the physical pile or the mental one, one day that "stuff" will need to be put away and dealt with.
Sometimes simplicity is the best choice. It can be so beautiful and so meaningful.
Our family recently went on a week long camping trip. We took the essentials, planned and packed for all of our meals and a bit extra 'cause you never know. You know what, simplicity was better. It made us really think about what we needed in our home to make it through the day to day. With no televisions, computers or piles of toys there we really spent time together. These things tend to take us away from each other rather than really connecting us. I do, as many others do, enjoy these things, although limits in the length of time they are enjoyed is what we need to watch. Enjoying each others company is so simple and meaningful for multiple people and not a lot of stuff is needed. Just you.
So let's celebrate our simplified piles of stuff because they give us something to do and let us never forget that one day that stuff will need a home or a resolution. Good luck with your stuff and wish me luck as I try to deal with mine.
